Technology
Sutton’s technologies division is engaged in fabrication of
mineral process plants and using new proven technology to ensure a smarter, better way of mining.
Mercury
Sutton is developing a process to solve the problem of mercury contaminated materials in processing gold.
The Minamata convention of UNEP has undertaken to reduce the use of mercury in technology and mining and to restrict the introduction of new products into the market.
The release of mercury vapour into the atmosphere is a priority especially in artisanal gold mining. Mercury vapour is highly toxic and pollutes soils and watercourses and is absorbed by fish which ultimately poisons the humans that eat them.
The Sutton technology can be applied to scale operations from panning up to 20 tonnes per day. Mercury is safely captured and can be further processed to form a stable, non-leaching product for long term storage.
- The Group is passionate about technology development and actively invests in early stage, new technologies.
Smart Camp
Sutton provides Rapid Deployment Camps (RDC’s) – container based housing featuring rapid roofing and ablution pods transforming containers into instant, comfortable accommodation that is easy to ship.
Rapid roofing features a modular, fold up design with a max span of 13m. The roofing units fit into a container for shipping. On site the roofing unit can be erected between containers to create instant workspace like workshops, hangars, storage etc.
